The new District Attorney of San Francisco says he won’t be prosecuting crimes like urinating in public and prostitution and blocking a sidewalk and other quality of life issues.  Chesa Boudin said, when he was campaigning, that he wouldn’t do it and he says it is a promise he intends to keep.

Boudin has been a public defender and he is classified by many as a progressive attorney.  He is taking this stance because he wants to decriminalize homelessness.  He believes that these are crimes that many homeless people get brought into the justice system on.

Boudin said after he won the race that “There can be no justice when we utilize prison and jail as the solution to all of our problems… we must think differently”.  Many conservative residents of San Francisco don’t agree with their new District Attorney.
