Yesterday on SisterSpeak we spoke with Victoria Morgan who is the founder of She’s Healed, Inc.  an organization focused on helping victims of domestic violence.  Domestic violence has taken center stage with NFL player Ray Rice’s suspension from the Ravens due to the TMZ video of his assault on then fiancee’ Janay Rice.

Below is the information that was included on her press release:

On Saturday October 11th…A much needed discussion will take place about the issue of domestic abuse. A conversation about Domestic Abuse will feature a very diverse panel of individuals who have seen, experienced or tackled the issue of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE or ABUSE and are willing to give facts, statistics as well as their opinions from their vantage point on the issue. The Panel as well as the moderators will root cause the issue, put together an action plan to combat this problem that transcends race, gender and sexual orientation. This event is open to the public and free of charge. We look forward to your support and voice as we discuss an issue that has been pushed to the forefront of our society.

“This subject has been my passion in life….but more than that it has been my testimony. I both witnessed domestic violence and experienced this from a young age. Based on that, statistics say that I should be so many things that I am not. There are some physical scars that I still bear on my body to this day, but it has not defined who I am nor caused me to settle for less than what I truly deserve. On the contrary, it has been a motivator to be better, to show my children different and to help those that see no way out. “ Victoria Morgan, founder of She’s Healed, Inc.

Doors to the event will open at 5:00 PM, with the program to start at 6:00 pm.
