— A former Cincinnati City Council member and vice-mayor is throwing his hat in the ring for a spot on the Hamilton County Commission.
Jim Tarbell, who left council in 2007 because of term limits, will run as a Democrat. He was a Charterite during his time at City Hall. He made the announcement Thursday night at a party at his Downtown campaign headquarters.
He’d like to replace current Commissioner David Pepper, who’s running for state auditor this year.
If Tarbell emerges from the May primary, he’ll face a Republican who’s currently on City Council. Leslie Ghiz and Chris Monzel are both looking to fill the same seat.
