Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has garnered national attention in the world of politics for not standing during the national anthem. Throughout the 2016 season, the baller would protest the national anthem to bring awareness to social inequality here in America. According to NFL.com, he was “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
Well now Kaepernick feels as though the protest has done its job and moving forward he doesn’t want to detract from the positive change he believes has been created since he took this stance. But some say he stopped the stance due to teams not wanting to sign him due to the attention. Colin Kaepernick has opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
