The president of the Greater Cincinnati chapter of the National Action Network is refuting claims that his organization is starting a boycott against the city of Norwood.
Bishop Bobby Hilton, while on the air Sunday, explained that while he did not explicitly call for a boycott of the city, he did suggest that people should avoid that area for their own safety.
“This is why i put everything I say and do in writing. I never called a boycott. I did say to stay away from Norwood and don’t shop there for your own safety. Because what I interpreted from the (Norwood) mayor was him saying ‘if you happen to kill and unarmed black man, unjustly, I got your back'”
Hilton was responding to a letter Mayor Thomas Williams wrote that said the country was under attack by “race-baiting black leaders and cowardly elected officials”.
