Startling reports in music this morning come out of the Motor City as we receive news that vocal icon and legend Aretha Franklin has broken two ribs after a recent fall at her home in Detroit this past weekend.

The esteemed Queen of Soul has unfortunately had to postpone and/or cancel completely a series of previously scheduled free concerts in the New York area in the coming weeks according to statements from her office and representatives. Aretha Franklin, 68, reportedly suffered abdominal pain and has also been advised by doctors to undergo additional medical testing to guarantee a speedy recovery.

The Detroit News caught up with the legendary soul singing sensation after the accident. “I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island,” she said in a statement. “Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August.” Franklin also said she is hopeful that she’ll be able to reschedule the New York shows for late August upon recovery.

We are praying for our divine diva Aretha Franklin this morning and wishing her well in her time of recovery. Will somebody please send her a foot-long hot dog though like as soon as possible? For more on the story, visit TheDetroitNews.com.
