Word has sprung up out of nowhere that gospel music officially has a new kid on the block over at Light Records. According to this week’s industry updates on GospelFlava.com, our girl Jessica Reedy has finally snagged herself a record deal with Light Records.

The BET Sunday Best season two runner-up is next in line to drop her long-awaited debut project. Jessica Reedy is of course now known as the vocalist in the competition who always brought something unique and special to the stage as she delivered a surprisingly mellow alto pitch with her jazzy stylings accredited to the likes of established artists such as Kim Burrell and Melanie Daniels.

Speaking of established artists, we also glad to see that Jessica Reedy is making her rounds and finding her way onto some high profile projects. Most recently, she joined forces with R&B powerhouses Faith Evans and Kelly Price for a triple threat performance on “Troubled World” – a newly released inspirational single that is a must for the season many of us are going through.

Jessica Reedy, a Michigan native, much remembered for her renditions of “I Am Available” on Bobby Jones Gospel and “God Smiled On Me” from Sunday Best, is expected to ready her solo project by summer of 2011. I can truly say around here at the station, we’re very excited about Jessica Reedy moving forward in her musical career. We are all waiting for the singer to turn it out and continue developing her already signature sound. Congrats to Light Records for scooping up a good one and adding to their already promising roster of current artists.

So while we wait some more, let’s take a look back at one of the best performances from our girl that everyone in our neck of the woods is ranting and raving about. What performance is that you ask? Well in the aftermath of her national exposure on the show, Jessica Reedy hit the road and ended up working with Kentucky vocalists Jason Clayborn and Thee Ensemble during their reunion concert. These folks already can sing like nobody’s business, but adding Jessica’s lounge singer flair, the groove of urban gospel and her vocal improv was absolutely brilliant. So be sure to check out Jessica’s special touch in both exquisite performances below.
