While we celebrate Valentines Day and Sweetest day here in America, other places in the world are celebrating Singles Day. It is exactly what it sounds like. A day to celebrate being single. You may think you already do that everyday but not how they do it in China and other parts of the world.
Singles day is 11/11. The date was picked because it is all ones as in “single” and Chinese e-commerce giants Alibaba and JD.com reported nearly $70 billion in sales on Singles Day. That’s right, people spent almost $70 BILLION on themselves celebrating being single.
Online sellers have sales on the scale of Black Friday sales here. For some reason the holiday hasn’t taken off here but if retailers can figure out a way to pull $70 Billion dollars out of your pocket you can believe it will be here soon.
