It turns out that fried food is not that bad for you after all.

Authorities said an Alabama woman used a pot full of hot grease to defend herself from an armed intruder last week.

Police in Decatur, a city in the northern part of the state, were called to the victim’s home for a report of a domestic dispute on Thursday, according to a news release.

Officers arrived and found the suspect, 31-year-old Larondrick Macklin, with burns on his face. While being treated at a hospital, an investigation determined he broke into the woman’s home while carrying a firearm and was burned with hot grease during an altercation, police said.

Their relationship was not immediately known. Authorities said Macklin does not live with the victim and they charged him with first-degree burglary and first-degree domestic violence.

He’s being held at the Morgan County Jail on $300,000 bond.
