America’s working mothers are now the primary breadwinners in a record 40% of the households with children.
It is a milestone, they say, in the changing pace of modern families. The percent of working mothers is up from just 11% more than fifty years ago in 1960.
The study, done by the Pew Research Center, points out that a majority of the breadwinning women are single mothers, but a growing number are married — bringing in more income than their husbands.
