Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory delivered the State of the City Address at the Aronoff Center downtown Tuesday night.
A key part of the mayor’s speech was the unveiling of the new streetcar. He said the company CAF USA will build the car. The mayor said phase one of the streetcar project is continuing and that the city is working to find money for expanding the system uptown.
“Future phases could connect to Walnut Hills, the Museum Center and Northern Kentucky. And rail transportation should include more than just the streetcar. We could do light rail along I-75 and I-71,” said Mallory.
The mayor also spoke in glowing terms about the city’s pride and its past and hope for its future.
“If you look around Cincinnati right now, you can see aspects of our history that should make people proud. Pick a neighborhood: east side, west side, central; it does not matter. Our city is connected to history in so many ways, whether we are talking about philanthropy, business, politics, or sports,” he said.
