Yesterday, President Obama was in Columbus giving a speech on energy at Ohio State. During his speech, he was interrupted by a heckler. The president stopped his speech to directly address the man. “You’re being rude”, said the president.

Drawing applause, Obama responded: “Sir, I’m here to speak to these folks. You can hold your own rally. You’re being rude.”

It seems the man was holding up a book he wanted the president to read. Obama told him:

“Sir, I’m trying to talk to these people. I’ll be happy to read your book. If you wanna give me your book, I’ll be happy to read it, but don’t interrupt my conversation with these folks. Alright? Show me some courtesy, alright? […] Okay, now where was I?”

He then motioned for Secret Service to get the book from the man.

The Hill notes that activists had organized a protest outside the university, “criticizing the president for throwing his support behind the southern portion of the Keystone Xl oil pipeline.”
