Academy Award nominee and recent Hollywood Walk of Fame recipient Angela Bassett still gets nervous and claims she doesn’t take any of her amazing career for granted. In fact, she’s been so successful that her debut on Broadway wasn’t ever too far from her cinematic endeavors. The world of acting led her straight to a new role in Katori Hall’s Broadway play “The Mountaintop.” Bassett joins co-star Samuel L. Jackson in the “reimagining” of the night before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, TN.

Both of the exceptional performers bring their individual star power to the hit stage production which opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on October 13th and is already receiving rave reviews with the hopes for more shows to be added during its run.

Bassett recently sat down with Gayle King to talk about her preparation for her Broadway debut siting the production’s impact on her personally plus more about what we’ll experience along the way. Watch as Angela Bassett even gives Gayle King and her viewing audience a snippet of her monologue, which Gayle says is captivating audiences every night.
