Boots is an 11 year old cat from Chicago and has been on “kitty death row” for months. Her owner passed away back in December and according to her living will any cats she owns at the time of her death are to be euthanized. However the trust officers of Fifth Third Bank who are responsible for executing the will couldn’t bring themselves to carry out the request.
The bank took to court to fight for Boots’ life. They asked the judge to overrule the provision stating that killing the cat “would violate public policy to euthanize a healthy housecat where an appropriate shelter has been identified”. The judge agreed! Fifth Third Bank was able to place Boots in a safe shelter. For more on this story you may also visit MSN.
