Shannon Sharpe Reportedly Settles $50 Million Rape Lawsuit

Months after he was hit with sexual assault allegations, Shannon Sharpe has finally settled the lawsuit with his accuser. Sharpes’ legal team hasn’t mentioned closing this legal chapter, but the accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, took to X Friday to announce the news. “Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship. After protracted and respectful negotiations, I’m pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed,” the tweet read. As a result, the case will be dropped “with prejudice,” which means no other legal action regarding the situation can be taken against Sharpe. The lawsuit was initially filed for $50 million, but a settlement hasn’t been disclosed.

Sharpe’s attorney, David Chesnoff, hasn’t responded to the legal development, but it ends nearly three months of his future being in limbo. When the news broke in April, the lawsuit said that Sharpe met Doe, an OnlyFans model, at a hotel gym in 2023 when she was 20 years old, and a toxic relationship persisted for the next two years that was “rocky” yet “consensual.”  It escalated in October 2024 when he “violently sexually assaulted and anally raped Plaintiff two different times in Las Vegas, Nevada.” Then, in January 2025, another incident occurred when he pressured her for unprotected sex while she pleaded with him to stop or wear a condom.  Sharpe shot down the allegations and promised to fight it out in court. “To my family, friends, supporters and colleagues, I want to speak to you directly and from the heart,” Sharpe said in a video released on X. “This is a shakedown. I’m going to be open, transparent, and defend myself, because this isn’t right.” Still, he had to step away from his post at ESPN — reportedly while discussing a $100 million extension — and promised to be back in time for the NFL season, and we’re about a week away from preseason. Social media has erupted after unfounded reports claimed that Doe reportedly retired from OnlyFans following the settlement, screenshotting a purported Instagram post. “Today, I have decided to retire from OF. Thank you for the incredible support you’ve shown me over the past few years,” the post reads. “This community has given me a life I could have never imagined. I’ll still be active on social media and have several new projects in the works that I can’t wait to share! I’m truly excited for this next chapter. I love you all forever and ever.” However, the statement isn’t on the account, with the most recent post published 17 weeks ago, so it appears to be fake.
