Dr. Jack Kevorkian, known for his controversial practice of assisting suicides, has died this morning at a Michigan hospital at the age of 83. Kevorkian’s attorney said he was being treated at the hospital for pneumonia and a kidney-related ailment.
Dr. Kevorkian, also known as “Dr. Death”, made news headlines for his activism in legalizing physician-assisted suicides. He was convicted of secondary-murder in 1999 after a patient died from “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”.
