Last night, the YMCA board of directors decided to keep at least one YMCA branch open in Walnut Hills. They will keep the entire Melrose YMCA open, which includes a swimming pool, fitness facilities, and after-school activities. It was reported, this morning, they will keep it open while a new YMCA will be built around the east-side neighborhood.
The development of the new YMCA will be led by a task force of members and community leaders who would give their ideas and input.
While the Melrose Y will stay open, plans to close the Williams Y, on East McMillan, will continue forward.
