Known for rebuilding the famed New York Yankees into the team and organization it has become today, owner George Steinbrenner has been reported dead today just after celebrating his 80th birthday recently on July 4th.

Steinbrenner suffered from a heart attack and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Fla., and died at about 6:30AM this morning.

His death was the second in three days to rock the Yankees. Bob Sheppard, the team’s revered public address announcer from 1951-07, also died this past Sunday at age 99. Below we’ve featured a special video package highlighting the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
