It seems like there is always a debate on the subject of curvy vs. fat. Who and what decides when you’ve crossed that line? Does it mean that anyone over a size 8 is fat, and anyone over a size 4 is curvy? Or is curvy just a “nicer” word for saying fat?

Well, thankfully blackvoices.com has attempted to put an end to the debate on the difference between curvy and fat. Curvy definitely means plus sized women, such as actress Mo’Nique, or women who are small but have a “womanly shape” such as Beyonce. Curvy can even go as far as to describe women who are tiny but have more weight in certain areas of their body such as J.Lo and Kim Kardashian.

Basically it seems that curvy can be used to describe a wide range of different body type and shapes. A women can have a tiny waist but a large chest and would be considered curvy, most of the time from genetics. Of course now-a-days there is surgery and implants that can either enhance your “assets”  or reduce them, whichever you prefer. But if you wish to tone, build muscle or reduce any part of your body the best thing to do is eat right and exercise.

Being curvy does not have to just apply to black women, as we see in the case of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian. There are a ton of women of other races that would be considered curvy, putting an end to the stereotype that obnoxiously skinny women are considered to be most attractive.  So embrace your “bootylicious-ness” and sexy curves, because in this day and age it seems like everyone wants to have a lil something to hold on to!
