1230AM WDBZ The Buzz is happy to announce some special music industry news for the gospel lovers and music biz fans. We’ve recently been notified that skilled producer, writer and popular gospel music vocalist VaShawn Mitchell has just signed with EMI Gospel where he and the team at the record label plan to release his latest effort titled Triumphant.

The singer’s new album is schedule for a late summer release on Tuesday, August 10th and currently features the lead single “Nobody Greater.” Mitchell has penned countless gospel hits including, “What’s to Come is Better Than What’s Been,” (performed by The Murrills), “My Worship is For Real,” “For My Good,” and “Promises.”

VaShawn Mitchell’s previous release, Promises, also garnered him a 2009 Stellar award nomination for “Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year.” Looks like he’s heading toward another big year in gospel. We’ve been hearing rave reviews of the new music and the experience of Mitchell’s recent live recording is still on people’s minds and on their lips. We’re expecting great things for this brother and his new home at EMI Gospel.

Are you guys planning to pick this new record from VaShawn Mitchell later this summer? If so, tell us why and what you’re looking forward to about it. Post your comments or your favorite VaShawn Mitchell tune in the comments section below after the break.
