California — Saying Google and Silicon Valley have failed to hire Blacks, Latinos and Asians into the tech industry, the local Black, Latino and Asian coalitions in Northern California protested at Google’s headquarters.

The groups are filing a federal complaint claiming that 34 of the groups they requested hiring information from, only 12 provided them with such.

“The available data demonstrates that Google’s Black employees, for example, could be at just one percent, Latinos at two percent and women at the 20 percent level. In contrast, Stanford, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, has an entering freshman class that has 17.2 percent Latinos and 11.1 percent Blacks.
