A pair of Tri-State grocery chains will undergo major changes this summer.
SUPERVALU and Remke Markets announced today that they have entered into an agreement for the transfer of ownership of six Greater Cincinnati bigg’s stores and their pharmacies.
As part of the transaction, Remke will purchase the following locations:
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these bigg’s stores and their customers into the Remke family,” said Bill Remke, president and CEO of Remke Markets, in a news release. “The bigg’s stores bring many assets to our organization, and we look forward to blending the strengths of two great grocers to create an organization committed to service, quality and value.”
The Remke chain will nearly double from seven to 13 stores with the sale.
The remaining bigg’s locations will close by the end of June, SUPERVALU said:
It’s not known how many workers will be affected by the closures.
Remke said that the Pump Perks program run by bigg’s would continue at the stores it purchased, which will remain named bigg’s for the time being.
