So many people are embarrassed due to the condition of their skin caused by Eczema.

Do you wear long sleeve shirts to cover up your dry patches? Do you scratch uncontrollably?

Does your skin itch all day?  If so, we are here to tell you that you do not have to suffer no more.

First, I feel the need to explain what eczema is and what the symptoms are.  Eczema is an itchy, non contagious inflammation of the skin.  It can appear leathery and thick.  Eczema begins as intense itching followed by a patchy rash that is red, inflammed and scaly.  According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Disease, more than 15 million people in the United States have symptoms of atopic dermatitis (eczema).

I am qualified to have this discussion with you because I have a 6 year old who I battled the disease with since he was born til he was 10 months.  He was born with it and his skin would itch and would be red, dry and scaly.  We visited the pediatrician and she prescribed prescription elidel.  At the time, I did not the dangers of the steroid cream.  We used everything to fight it including Aveeno, Aveeno with oatmeal, cetaphil soap, and Eucerin.  It would go away and return and we did this dance for 10 months of his life and my husband and I were very concerned because our kids had a career in modeling.  My son even had a patch about the size of a quarter on the side of his face.  I was introduced to a safer way to handle eczema when he was 10 months and to our surprise it cleared up in a week and a half.  We switched over our laundry detergent, I was using dreft which I thought was safe, it would irritate his skin.  The detergent we use now has no phosphates or fillers.  We switched his soap to french milled bath bars with glycerin and allantoin and we used a lotion that beat out Eucerin by 7 times and now is clinically proven to moisturize and keep skin looking softer and smoother in just 24 hours.
