Emanuel says,

I have always believed that effective communication was when one person speaks and the person or people who they are speaking to understands them and gets everything that they are attempting to convey.  Sometimes it is hard to communicate using just words especially if what you are attempting to communicate is emotionally charged and you have to attempt to appear calm or unemotional.  That is when certain words are very effective but our society shuns these words.  Yes I am talking about my good friends cuss words.  I don’t cuss a lot and when I do I only have a few words that I like to use but why do we frown on cussing?  There are people who will tell you that if you have to cuss it’s because you lack the vocabulary to effective communicate your point but that is not necessarily true.  Isn’t it possible that I could think of many ways to communicate my point but the easiest and most effective way is to use 1 or 2 words that convey my thoughts as well as the emotion behind those thoughts and if that is also the most efficient way to get my point across then isn’t it the wisest way as well?  I think it is.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating running around calling people every name in the book and cussing just for the sake of cussing (even though I don’t have a problem with that either) but there are times when you just want to ask “what the hell?” and the job is done with those 3 words.  Cuss words are words and I like them so if you hear me cussing and you don’t like it then you can kiss my. . . well, you get the point.
