Elmwood Place Couple Charged After Children Found Malnourished

An Elmwood Place woman and her live-in boyfriend are facing serious charges after three children in their care were hospitalized for severe malnutrition, including a 9-year-old boy fighting for his life.
Court records show 33-year-old Angel Holland and 30-year-old Aaron Stalling are each charged with three counts of felonious assault and three counts of child endangering. Holland has had custody of the 9-year-old since 2020.

The case began September 13th when Elmwood Place police responded to a home on Helen Street for a report of a child not breathing. Emergency crews found the boy unresponsive. He was resuscitated on scene and rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where doctors discovered he weighed just 30 pounds, had a core temperature below 80 degrees, and showed signs of abuse.
Two of his siblings, ages 8 and 6, were also found malnourished and required hospitalization, according to court documents.

Investigators said Holland admitted she had not sought medical care for the boy despite his recent fall and complaints of stomach pain. She told authorities she was “preoccupied with another child” the day he became unresponsive. Stalling acknowledged hearing the boy struggling to breathe but did not act.
A search warrant led police to seize items described as evidence, including bungee cords, a belt, and soiled towels inside a vehicle registered to Holland.
During a hearing Wednesday, Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Josh Berkowitz set bonds for both suspects at $600,000 each and ordered they have no contact with the children. The case is set to go before a grand jury October 3rd.
