Sarah Jessica Parker Calls Cincinnati “Exciting” in Podcast

Sarah Jessica Parker is reminding folks not to sleep on Cincinnati!
During a recent episode of Call Her Daddy, the Sex and the City star took a moment to show love to the city she grew up in. While she moved to New York at 11, SJP grew up in Cincinnati with her parents and seven siblings, and her memories of the Queen City are still vivid.
“We go back to Cincinnati all the time,” she said on the podcast. “It is a very impressive, exciting city. And it’s beautiful.”
Parker described her childhood home as “the affordable house” in a wealthy neighborhood. She says that little detail helped shaped her appreciation for budget beauty and style. SJP credits her mother’s eye for clothes and decor with helping her understand quality and design— something that would eventually become part of her world both on and off screen as Carrie Bradshaw.

“She was really smart about getting beautiful things on her hands for little or no money,” Parker recalled. “In our home, she liked beauty. So I grew up understanding that things were worthy, things were beautiful, things were well-made.”
On the pod, Parker shared fond memories of Cincinnati’s cultural scene, especially the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park where her father worked as a stage manager.
“We went to a lot of theater,” she said. “We went to the ballet all the time. There were a lot of opportunities to be outside — literally and physically.”
Despite the move to New York that would change the course of her life, clearly Cincinnati had a great affect on Mrs. SJP.
