Explosion in East Price Hill: Four Injured, Investigation Ongoing

An alleged house explosion rocked East Price Hill on Sunday evening, leaving four people injured and a home partially destroyed.
Cincinnati Fire Department officials responded to reports of an explosion on Elberon Avenue just before 8:30PM. When crews arrived, they found fire engulfing the four-family home and one of the victims lying in the front yard. Debris was still falling from the sky as firefighters worked to contain the damage. Some Price Hill residents took to social media stating that they felt their homes shake, but did not know why.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Matt Flagler, two children and two adults were transported to a local hospital. One adult male suffered critical burns, while the other three victims sustained minor injuries.
The blast was powerful enough to cause significant structural damage, with Flagler noting that “the right side of the building was completely gone.” A vacant nearby building was also damaged.
Approximately 65 firefighters responded to the scene, and Duke Energy is assisting in the investigation. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the explosion.
The explosion came just hours after a deadly fire in another East Price Hill home, which claimed the lives of a 21-year-old and a two-year-old. That fire also left ten others hospitalized, including seven children. Authorities are still investigating both incidents.
