As we inch closer to GRAMMY season, one may have to wonder about the great lengths it takes to grab a nomination, let alone win it. Turns out, it is more extensive than many think.

With that in mind, Karen Clark had the chance to chat with GRAMMY-nominated spoken word artist Queen Sheba about the GRAMMY process as she is putting up her latest project, Civil Writes: The South Got Something To Say, for consideration in the “Best Spoken Word Poetry Album” category. She offers her unique perspective on the nomination process, establishing a relatively new category for the GRAMMYs, and shares the creation and promotion of her album (which includes a Raleigh connection).
