A man was shocked with a Taser gun and taken into custody Thursday after police said he tried to steal a fire truck.
Firefighters were responding to a medical call when they said Makhtar Fall came out of a home and began acting strange. Officers said Fall jumped in a fire truck and revved the engine, but could not put the truck in gear.
An officer then shocked the man with the Taser gun while he was still sitting in the driver’s seat of the truck.
Fall was taken to University Hospital’s psychiatric ward for evaluation.
Court records indicate Fall was indicted in 2005 for breaking into a store with a hammer, but the case never went forward, even after he was arrested in 2008 on different charges. Fall was taken to University Hospital’s psychiatric ward for evaluation.
