Laura Govan, sister to Gloria Govan of VH1 “Basketball Wives” fame, has finally broken her silence about her alleged affair with Shaquille O’Neal.

If you remember, a few months ago news broke that Laura Govan and Shaquille O’Neal were having an affair after private e-mails between the two surfaced. At the time, Laura was engaged to Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards and Shaq was still married to his wife Shaunie.

Shaunie filed for divorce from Shaq weeks later, but the news still became part of her “Basketball Wives” series – mostly Shaunie simply asking Gloria if her sister had slept with her husband, and Gloria ignoring the question.

However, Laura has spoken up about the rumors in an upcoming issue of Sister 2 Sister Magazine.

ON WHY SHE DECLINED TO APPEAR ON “BASKETBALL WIVES”

I didn’t want to do it because I’ve never asked to be in the public eye. I’m educated. I want to make sure that my children have a role model in the sense of whatever that means to me. I want them to see that mommy is doing things other than being behind daddy and going to games and being cute.

ON HER “AFFAIR” WITH SHAQ:

We found out who actually made up the fake emails. Both parties know the truth and that’s it.

ON WHY IT TOOK SO LONG TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE ALLEGATIONS:

I have three kids [ages 4, 3 and 11 months], and in between that I had a miscarriage. Gilbert was going through his thing, you know. He came first and foremost and then my children and us as a family. There was nothing else to that. And for the record, we never split.”
