Sunday there’s a TV special marking the 50th anniversary of the British invasion when the Beatles went on the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964. In 1965, UK singer Dusty Springfield was able to convince England’s hit TV show “Ready Steady Go” to devote a whole episode to Motown. The “Motown Sound” and popular R&B music had a major significance in terms of the Civil Rights movement and integration in American society during the sixties. Here’s a couple of clips from the show.
