Ohio Attorney General David Yost plans to add all drivers license pictures to the states facial recognition system.
Last year the plan was put on hold because of concerns over programs like this but Yost appointed a task force to look into the program. The task force has made a number of recommendations and adding drivers license pictures to the facial recognition system is one of them.
The plan is to add all drivers license photos dating back to 2011.
There are concerns over how the database will be used by law enforcement and over who will be targeted by the facial recognition system. Yost doesn’t believe that there have been any misuse of the system but he says there will be safeguards in place.
