CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – Mike DeWine took the official oath of office to become Ohio’s 70th governor during a private ceremony just after midnight at his Cedarville farm, but was publically inaugurated at the Ohio statehouse on Monday.
DeWine, 72, was sworn in by his son, Ohio Supreme Court Judge Pat Dewine, with a hand on a stack of family Bibles.
Immediately after becoming governor, DeWine signed six executive orders into law, primarily regarding anti-drug initiatives and foster care priorities.
DeWine, who is the oldest Ohioan to become governor, previously served at the Ohio Attorney General dating back to January 2011.
