National attention has been brought about due to five gay teens who’ve committed suicide within three weeks. Tyler Clementi, an 18-year-old student of Rutgers University, jumped off the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey after he was secretly filmed having a sexual encounter with another man, which was broadcast on the Internet.

Clementi’s death follows four other teen suicides, all of which have reportedly been linked to anti-gay bullying and abuse – California’s Seth Walsh and Texas’ Asher Brown, both 13; Indiana’s Billy Lucas, 15; and Raymond Chase, 19, took his own life. Chase, a sophomore at Johnson and Wales reported as openly gay, apparently hanged himself in his dorm room.

There are many people left behind scratching their heads in confusion trying to understand why this is happening. There are so many young people who are struggling with their sexual identity, and more often than not they become the target of bullying and teasing.

With these recent rash of gay teen suicides happening across the country, many celebrities have taken to the airwaves to speak out against bullying, and in support for those who are gay, bi, lesbian, and transgendered.

Parents Whose Children Bully Other Students Should Face Fines!

Due to the recent teen gay suicides, best-selling author Terrance Dean and Hello Beautiful are celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of relationships. Live life and love!” Terrance recently teamed up with television personality, Abiola Abrams, to speak out on the prevention of bullying and gay teen suicide.

Let’s put an end to bullying, and gay teen suicide. Instead of taunting, let’s educate. Let’s embrace our differences, and despite what your stance may be on someone’s sexual identity, we should love one another. One love, one voice, one community.
