First Lady Michelle Obama has been an avid supporter of Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. During a campaign stop in Wake Forest, North Carolina, on Thursday, both Clinton and the First Lady took the stage to stress the importance of voting. “You may have noticed that I have been doing some campaigning for Hillary,” said Obama before a crowd of nearly 11,000 people at Wake-Forest University. She denounced Trump’s charge that the election is “rigged” as an effort to suppress voter turnout. She encouraged African Americans to head to the polls so that their voices can be heard: “I want you to remember that folks marched and protested for your right to vote. They endured beatings and jail times. They sacrificed their lives for this right. So I know you can get yourself to the polls to exercise that right.” Read more.
Alaska Lawyer Accuses Clarence Thomas of Sexual Assault
In the midst of controversy surrounding Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ exclusion from the National Museum of African American History and Culture, another woman has come forward claiming that he sexually assaulted her in 1999. Moira Smith, a lawyer from Alaska, said that she was groped by Thomas during a Truman Foundation dinner 17 years ago. “He groped me while I was setting the table, suggesting I should sit ‘right next to him,’” said Smith in a statement. Smith said that he “cupped his hand” around her rear end and pulled her close to him. Thomas is denying the accusations. “This claim is preposterous and it never happened,” he said. Read more.

GOP candidate Donald Trump has used former president Bill Clinton’s past as ammo for his campaign, in efforts to take the focus off the sexual assault allegations made against him. Read more.
