After Serena Williams became the second woman “in the Open Era to reach 22 Grand Slam singles titles” this morning, she and sister Venus Williams won their 14th Grand Slam doubles titles together, SB Nation reports.

The sisters have not taken Grand Slam doubles titles since they dominated Wimbledon in 2012, the sports outlet notes.

Serena Williams and Venus Williams have won their 14th Grand Slam doubles titles together, beating the team of Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Much of the focus has been on Serena and her continuous run at the top of the singles rankings. But the pair have been back at doubles action lately and took this year’s Wimbledon tournament while being unseeded. Babos and Shvedova put up a fight as the fifth seeds, but the Williams sisters proved to be too much and took the match in straight sets.

Congratulations to Venus and Serena!

Serena Williams is absolutely unstoppable.

The 34-year-old just won her 22nd Grand Slam in a 7-5, 6-3 win over Angelique Kerber, who had defeated her in a Grand Slam final earlier this year.

Long been thought to be the greatest player of the Open era, she’s about to have the record to back it up.

For those of you who know the game well, Williams has been playing for 18 years with a total of 64 starts —that’s a 34.4 percent of her matches.

As noted by Fox Sports, Serena is now tied with legendary tennis player Steffi Graf, who also won 22 Grand Slams in her career. And next month, Serena begins her quest to pass Graf, and is slated to have 25 wins by the time she gets back to the All England Club.

But it was the moment she raised her fist proudly to celebrate her Black pride that was the highlight of the game. Indeed, it could not have come at a more critical moment for Black people, as tensions between police are at an all-time high following the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and 5 police officers at a rally in Dallas Thursday.

Also in the crowd, representing for dope Black women everywhere, was her “Sorry” music video partner Beyoncé. Dressed in white, the singer cheered her friend on as she made history.

In a recent press conference, Williams addressed being constantly referred to as “one of the best female athletes.”

“I would like to see people, the public and the press and other athletes in general just realize and respect women for who we are, what we are and what we do,” she said.

“I’ve been working at this since I was three years old […] Basically my whole life I’ve been doing this and I haven’t had a life and I don’t think I deserve to be paid less because of my sex. Or anyone else for that matter, in any job.”
