One teen gymnast is having an incredible year and has now been awarded one of the highest accolades an American athlete can attain.
It has been a record-breaking year for Simone Biles.
The 18-year-old, who won’t compete in her first Olympics until eight months from now, has already officially been named the Team USA Female Olympic Athlete of the Year.
The incredible news was announced at the Team USA Awards Thursday night.
Last month, Biles left the world gymnastics championships in Scotland with four golds (team, all-around, floor and beam) to go with a bronze on vault. Her 14 world championship medals are the most ever by an American woman, and her 10 golds are the most by a female gymnast.
