Stop Bad Apple Gun Dealers Protest

South Side Chicago Priest Father Michael Pfleger complained Wednesday that his church has no Internet connection because the cable company refuses to send workers to make repairs out of fear of violence, according to Fox 32 News.

Computer classes at his St. Sabina Church in the city’s Englewood neighborhood were disrupted Wednesday morning over a slow Internet connection that made it difficult to complete tasks, notes the report.

From Fox 32 News:

The director called Comcast and set up a repair appointment for the afternoon only to have it canceled five minutes later.

“They told me due to the violence in the area, the increased violence in the area, that they were not dispatching any technicians into the area,” said Phil Hunter, who’s the Director of the St. Sabina Community Employment Center.

Pfleger aired his frustration on Facebook:

A Supervisor at Comcast just informed us that they couldn’t send their technician to repair our internet service today because our area has too much violence…..ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? Oh Hell No!!!!!!!

After social media backlash, the company called back to make an appointment, he wrote on Facebook.

Well guess what after Facebook goes off and calls and media respond…SUDDENLY, calls from Comcast come and two technicians and a supervisor show up to do the work…..My question is. Why did it take pressure to do the right thing…..and what about Miss Jones on the block that is treated like that…..If they would tell our Employment Center that, how is an ordinary citizen treated?????? SMH

The frustration comes a day after 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee‘s funeral was held at the church. The child was executed last week (reportedly by his father’s gang rivals) after he was lured into an alleyway in neighboring Auburn Gresham community.
