It’s been almost a year since Michael Brown’s tragic death, and the city of Ferguson is still rebuilding. Ferguson Mayor James Knowles recently announced that a new interim police chief would be appointed. The decision comes after the U.S. Justice Department claimed there was evident racial bias in the way police officials handled encounters with minorities. Mayor Knowles will hire 50-year-old Arizona native Andre Anderson. “He is extremely well-qualified. He will bring us a fresh perspective coming from outside the St. Louis region,” said Knowles. “We’re bringing someone in who has some expertise and who will help us.” Anderson will be the second person to take on the position since Chief Thomas Jackson resigned in March. Chris Brown Faces Legal Trouble in the Philippines

Singer Chris Brown isn’t new to being caught up in the midst of controversy, but this time around, it’s in another country. According to reports, Brown has been banned from leaving the Philippines due to a contract dispute. The Philippine Department of Justice said that an order was placed against Brown to prevent him from leaving the country for failing to pay promoters back for a missed New Year’s Eve appearance. Brown was stopped while trying to leave Manila’s international airport to perform in Hong Kong. He and his promoter John Michael Pio Roda can get a clearance certificate if the Department of Justice approves. Read more.

President Obama tells Jon Stewart He Can’t Leave The Show

On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama made his final appearance as president on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show. He candidly reflected on his time in office. “I finally know what I’m doing,” he said. “I do think the work we did early starts bearing fruit later. It just so happens that people are seeing the work we did when we first came in — so Iran … [it] took four or five years to get them to the table.” He also told Jon Stewart that he can’t leave the show. “I can’t believe you’re leaving before me,” he told Stewart. “In fact, I’m issuing a new executive order that Jon Stewart cannot leave the show.” During the sit-down, President Obama weighed in on Donald Trump’s outlandish comments, joking that the other Republican candidates must be “enjoying Mr. Trump’s dominance of their primary.” Read more.
