More news is emerging about Emanuel AME killer Dylann Roof and none of it is good. Roof’s cousin, Scott Roof, told The Intercept that he believes that Roof was motivated to hate because he was interested in a woman who ended up dating a Black man.

The Intercept reports:

“Dylann was normal until he started listening to that white power music stuff.”  He also claimed that “he kind of went over the edge when a girl he liked starting dating a black guy two years back.”

This scenario recalls a manifesto written by Elliot Rodger, who on May 23, 2014 gunned down six people in Isla Vista, California: “How could an inferior, ugly black boy be able to get a white girl and not me?”

“Dylann liked her,” Scott Roof said. “The black guy got her. He changed. I don’t know if we would be here if not …” Roof then abruptly hung up the phone.

Another report, from The Charlotte Observer, says that Charleston police took Roof to a local Burger King on the way to jail because he said he was hungry. A detailed report of the arrest was released and that information is included.

According to the Observer, Police Chief Jeff Ledford confirmed the Burger King stop, saying Roof was compliant when his car was surrounded and during his arrest.

“He was very quiet, very calm. He didn’t talk,” Ledford said. “He sat down here very quietly. He was not problematic.”
