The mother of a 15-year-old turned the boy in to police after she recognized him in the surveillance footage from a sexual assault incident in Chicago, the Huffington Post reports.

Chicago Police released photos of Deshawn Isabelle last Thursday, stating that he was wanted for robbing a 41-year-old woman on the city’s subway line. Isabelle entered the train and grabbed the woman from behind, taking $2,000 cash and her iPhone. He was also seen sexually assaulting her before he fled.

“No one entered the train, so Isabelle grabbed the woman by the hair again and dragged her to a partially enclosed area in the train car where he pushed her face down,” Assistant State’s Attorney Joe DiBella said. The teenage boy then allegedly kept punching, kicking, and stomping all over the woman’s body and demanding cash.

The woman was able to report the assault to authorities. She says she was carrying such a large amount of cash because she planned to wire it to a relative.

The teen later confessed to the crime and allegedly spent the money on Jordan jumpsuits and candy.

Although she turned the boy in, his mother, who has decided to keep her identity hidden, protected her son against the victim’s lawyer during a hearing on Monday.

“Don’t talk that (expletive) about my child,” she said, according to the Tribune. “Quit talking all of that (expletive) on the (expletive) news.”

Isabelle was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and robbery. In addition to being charged as an adult, he was placed on a $1 million bond.
