murphyAt 77-years-old and just 105 pounds, Willie Murphy (pictured) will make you rub your eyes in disbelief! The petite powerhouse can deadlift 250 pounds, do one-handed pull-ups, one-handed pushups, fingertip pushups, and pushups where you put your fingers in a diamond formation and press your nose all the way to the floor.  And… for the pièce de résistance, Bryant can also push her car out of the snow if it gets stuck and shovel too according to Democrat & Chronicle (D&C).

The self-taught, self-trained granny is the proud recipient of the World Natural Powerlifting Federation 2014 Lifter of the Year award. After competing in the event last month in Atlanta, Murphy aced the deadlift competition division title, and snagged first-place awards in power curl, bench press, and bench press repetitions. Murphy also kicked butt at WNPF’s New York State Powerfest competition in Henrietta.

The petite body building dynamo says she’s on a mission to inspire women to get moving and to get in a daily dose of fitness, even if it’s just a smidge. She told D&C that women should do enough so that they are “moving something and the blood is flowing in [their] body.”

As far as secrets to her stamina, there doesn’t seem to be any.  Murphy admits to eating what she wants without any restrictions.  She is however diligent about her fitness routine which entails hitting the gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to weightlift and power walk.

One thing’s for sure, Murphy plans on continuing to do the damn thing for as long as she can and loves the attention she is getting. “They see I’m old and I’m not being pushed around in a wheelchair. I’m almost 80-years-old and I am still living life.”
