Chief of Staff to Bill de Blasio’s Wife Takes Leave of Absence

New York City Hall aide Rachel Noerdlinger has decided to take an unpaid leave of absence after her personal struggles were publicized in the media. For the past few months there have been reports released about her concerning ethics issues, a boyfriend who got in trouble with the law, and unpaid parking tickets. On Friday, her 17-year-old son Khari was arrested on a charge of criminal trespassing. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is standing by Noerdlinger during this troubling time. He claims that the public slander is unfair and will discourage individuals from working in the public sector in the future. “If you want no one to become public servants, keep doing what you’re doing,” Mayor de Blasio said during a recent press conference in Brooklyn. “Why would so much attention be given to one person and her personal life? It’s clearly a pretty systematic effort to undermine certain work that’s being done, and we’re not going to be dissuaded by that one bit.” Read more.
