Roland Martin talks to educator Steve Perry about the controversy around the failing education system in New York around the low standardized testing scores amongst Black and Hispanic kids.

“We as a community sit silently by after reports tell us that these reports are not educating our children…yet we say we love our children and value their education,” Perry says.

On who’s to blame for the low standardized scores:

“We as a community need to spend a little less time in front of the television and care about the schools that we wake up and take them to every morning.”
