A high school wrestling team learned a hard lesson about the historical relevance of “lynching” when they were scratched from a state tournament after a disturbing photo surfaced with some of the team surrounding a “lynched” dummy.
Was this racial, racist or just competitive bravado? Team members said that they didn’t give any thought to the physical appearance of the dummy. Should they have given it thought?
