The White House has a new international issue to tackle: bad boy pop star Justin Bieber.

According to reports, the Oval Office is required to weigh in on the 19-year-old’s visa status now that a “We the People” petition garnered more than 240,000 supporters. By policy, the Obama administration is obligated to respond after 100,000 signatures, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says the president’s feedback will come “relatively soon.”

“That process will occur, as is our commitment,” Carney said during a press conference on Friday. “There will be a response when the threshold is crossed. That response will come, I’m sure, relatively soon. I don’t have one now on matters related to visas. I would refer you to DHS.”

The “Deport Justin Bieber And Revoke His Green Card” petition was created on the White House’s “We the People” site on January 23rd, the same day Bieber was arrested in Miami for drunken drag racing, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. “We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture,” the petition reads. “We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked.”

It concluded, “He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation’s youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”

As of this posting, the petition has a total of 244,537 signatures.
