The Academy Award-winner will welcome the president and approximately 150 guests into his Los Angeles home for the event scheduled for May 10. The event is not cheap, though. It will cost attendants $40,000 per ticket to have the opportunity to hobknob with Obama, Clooney, and all their fancy friends. Proceeds will go to the Obama Victory fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties. Clooney told ET, “I’m proud to do whatever I can to support the President… as long as no one asks me to sing.”
Clooney has been a staunch advocate for the president and consistently vocal about his support. Last fall, Clooney told an ABC News reporter, “I’m disillusioned by the people who are disillusioned by Obama, quite honestly, I am.” He went on: “If he was a Republican running, because Republicans are better at this,” and then added, “they’d be selling him as the guy who stopped 400,000 jobs a month from leaving the country. They’d be selling him as the guy who saved the auto-industry. If they had the beliefs, they’d be selling him as the guy who got rid of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ who got Osama bin Laden. You could be selling this as a very successful three years.”
And Buzzfeed reported that the Obama campaign had to refund Clooney on some of his donation after he maxed out on the legal limit last year.
