Same-sex marriage and homosexuality has been quite the hotbed discussion lately. A lot of people protesting California’s same-sex marraige ban, Donnie McClurkin’s remarks on homosexuality, and most recently Tonex has come out on his sexual preference. This has left a few of his fans fuming. First if you don’t know Tonex, let me educate you real quick with this video right here.
Some fans of Tonex feel that they’ve been deceived by the artist’s attempt to live a normal lifestyle. There are few who can imagine hard it is, to be accepted by the christian community, to be outgoing with their same-sex preference. To keep his lifestyle on the DL, he decided to get married. Ingrid Michelle of Elev8.com finds this unfortunate because his former wife was not only lied to, but was a tool in Tonex’s quest for acceptance.
At the time, he seemed to be struggling for public acceptance and what better way to present yourself than in the wholeness of what appears to be a healthy union. He married her for himself. It had nothing to do with how much he “loved” her or not. Truth be told, if he really loved her, he would have left her the hell alone. I’m just saying……So basically he risked her emotions for his own narcissistic pleasure and when he was done – like a chewed up piece of gum – he spit her out and decided to embark upon that which brings him emotional joy…men.
So the big question is, which is worse : simply coming out and announce your same-sex preference, or hide it from your friends and family, and blend in? Is it time we learn to forgive homosexuality, or do we risk having those like Tonex’s former wife spiritually damaged by someone conforming to a false lifestyle?
