Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid leader and global human rights icon, is now in critical condition in a South African hospital, according to the country’s government.
The 94-year-old former South African president was admitted to a Pretoria hospital June 8 for a recurring lung infection. Mandela had visited the hospital three times in the past six months. (Via Euronews)
Current South African President Jacob Zuma announced Mandela was in critical condition after visiting him in the hospital Sunday. Zuma said doctors were “doing everything possible to get his condition to improve” and added Mandela “is in good hands.” (Via Office of President Jacob Zuma)
