In the wake of the tragic events at yesterday’s Boston Marathon, officials in Cincinnati met today to discuss security and safety measures  for the upcoming Flying Pig Marathon.

With an expected 30,000 runners and additional spectators and volunteers, heightened security and safety measures will be a part of the overall plan for the May 4 and 5.

 Flying Pig, Executive Director, Iris Simpson- Bush issued this statement:

    “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the staff and participants of the Boston Marathon after today’s incident near the finish line. We are closely following the situation with our local police and fire leadership to understand the circumstances of today’s events and will continue to do so as information is released.”
